A yearly membership of $25 for residents and $35 for non-residents entitles members to take part in all of the Seniors' Centre's great activities. Trips and additional programs are made available throughout the year at reasonable costs. Return to the Aurora Seniors' Centre - What to Expect

Note: The following Return to Play guidelines will be in place for when recreation facilities reopen and in-person Winter programs and drop-ins are permitted to resume.

The Aurora Seniors' Centre will be reopening its doors on Monday, September 28 with new safety protocols in place to ensure participant, volunteer and staff safety.

The Town of Aurora and the Aurora Seniors Association are excited to welcome members and participants back. Town staff have worked closely with the Aurora Seniors Association, the Older Adults Centres’ Association of Ontario (OACAO) and York Region Public Health to develop procedures and guidelines in accordance with provincial and regional health department regulations.

For everyone’s safety and comfort, please review the following information carefully prior to returning to the Aurora Seniors Centre.

Facility Access & Participant Screening 
  • Pre-registration is required for all programs and activities. Participants will no longer be permitted to drop into the Centre.
  • Registration for Aurora Seniors Association activities can be found at
  • Registration for Town of Aurora programs will begin on Monday, September 28 for residents. Non-resident registration will begin on Thursday, October 1.
  • There are 3 registration options for Town programs:
    • Online – Using the Town of Aurora’s online registration system e-PLAY
    • In-Person (By Appointment Only) – Call 905-726-4767 as of Monday, September 14, to make an appointment to fill out your registration form at the Aurora Seniors' Centre once registration opens September 28. Limited spaces available for appointments.
    • Drop-Off – Effective Monday, September 28, registration forms and a drop box will be available at the Aurora Seniors' Centre, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. You will be asked to pick-up your forms, fill them out at home or in your car, and drop it off at the Centre. The drop box will be processed by staff twice per day. No facility access permitted, therefore no appointment required for this option.
  • All participants will complete a verbal screening assessment before they enter the Centre. Participants who show any symptoms will be directed to return home and seek medical advice immediately. You will not be permitted access if you answer “Yes” to any screening questions.
  • Staff and Volunteers will also pre-screen before they enter the Centre daily and report for duty, and will not enter the Centre if ill.
Face Masks Are Mandatory in the Centre 
  • The Aurora Seniors' Centre will follow all York Region guidelines for mandatory masks as outlined in The Regional Municipality of York Medical Officer of Health Instructions to Businesses and Organizations Currently Operating (under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA), R.S.O. 1990 and related Regulations).
  • Note: York Region lists physical activity as an exemption therefore it is not mandatory to wear a mask while exercising or participating in Fitness programs. Masks must be worn in the Centre up until when your fitness activity starts and must be put back on when the program ends, as you exit the facility.
Physical Distancing & Signage
  • Participants will be required to maintain physical distancing at all times.
  • There will be floor markings and signage throughout the Centre to promote and maintain physical distancing.
  • Program capacities have been restricted so participants can maintain physical distance.
  • Programming is modified and limited, to allow for staggered start and end times.
  • There will be one-way directional flow throughout the facility. All participants will enter through the main front entrance and exit via the North doors by the Bocce courts.
  • Program areas will have designated floor markings.
  • Participants will not be allowed to congregate in the hallways.
  • Participants are asked to arrive for their program no earlier than 15 minutes before their program start time and must leave the Centre within 15 minutes of their program or activity ending.
Cleaning & Sanitization
  • The Seniors Centre has gone through a rigorous deep clean and disinfecting.
  • High touch surface areas will continue to be cleaned and sanitized between programs and activities throughout the day.
  • Hand sanitizing stations will be made available at the entrance and accessible throughout the facility.
  • Some program equipment will be provided, however participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment. Equipment will be washed after each use and returned to a designated clean area.
  • Coffee and tea service is unavailable at this time.
  • Participants are asked to bring their own water and water bottles. Water coolers and refilling stations are unavailable.
  • The lounge is unavailable for visiting.
  • Lost and Found items will be kept for a maximum of 24 hours, then will be disposed of. Please label any item or supply you bring into the Centre.
  • Our cloak room is unavailable. Please limit the number of items you bring to the Centre.
  • Unused areas of the Centre will be unavailable to maintain sanitization.
  • All participants are encouraged to practice good hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette at all times in the Centre.
Facility Tours
  • Staff will offer tours of the facility to members and their family upon request.
  • Please contact Town staff to book your tour.
