Welcome to Club Aurora Fitness Centre!

Located at the Aurora Family Leisure Complex (A.F.L.C.), Club Aurora's fitness facility offers an active workout space featuring a variety of cardio and newly updated strength training equipment, along with programs for all fitness levels. The Chartwell Walking Track is an amenity that is also available within the facility and is free to use for all patrons.

Fitness Memberships

Memberships can be purchased online at e-PLAY

Fitness participants who wish to participate in fitness classes or use the Fitness Centre have the option of purchasing a perpetual membership with a monthly payment plan (youth, adult, or older adult) or pay-as-you-go at $5 per activity.

The following perpetual memberships are available: 

  • Combo memberships (combined Equipment & Weights and Group Fitness) 

  • Equipment & Weights memberships 

  • NEW! Group Fitness memberships

    • Starting July 2021, the previous Group Fitness and Aquafitness memberships will be combined into one new membership. With the new Group Fitness membership, members will have access to both group fitness classes (virtual and in-person) and aquafit classes.

Cancellation policy: 

  • All membership cancellation requests must be made in writing to Customer Service a minimum of 7 days prior to the monthly membership renewal date to stop monthly payments. The membership will end on the last day before the monthly renewal date.

  • Failure to submit the request in a timely manner will result in the membership automatically renewing for an additional month, with future payments stopping the subsequent month.

How to Register for a Workout Time
  • Fitness participants are required to reserve a spot through the Town’s online program registration system. Set-up an account and register online at e-PLAY
  • You are required to reserve a time in order to participate in group fitness classes.
    • Drop-in services are not available at this time.
  • Participants who purchase a membership will be able to register and reserve a spot free of charge. Inactive members and non-members will be able to register and reserve a spot and will be required to pay $5.00 per visit.
Personal Training and Classes

Club Aurora offers a variety of personal training packages to fit any budget. We offer both private and semi-private training options. Please contact Club Aurora for more information.

Fitness Appraisal and Consultation

Note - Fitness Assessments are temporarily on-hold. We are only offering Fitness Demo/Consults at this time.

Club Aurora is a C.S.E.P. (Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology) Certified Fitness Centre. We offer a comprehensive fitness appraisal and health evaluation to all six month and full year members*. Our fitness appraisals are conducted by Certified Personal Trainers (C.P.T.) and Certified Exercise Physiologists (C.E.P.) and take one hour to complete. Each test includes:

  • Health history
  • Resting heart rate
  • Resting blood pressure
  • Body composition
  • Flexibility test
  • Cardio step test
  • Muscular strength and endurance

Results are reviewed with you and an individualized exercise program is developed to help you achieve your objectives. Note: Fitness Appraisals are by appointment only.

*Three month members may have a fitness appraisal conducted for a fee of $37.75.

Squash

Return-to-Play: Drop-in Squash, Single Hitting starting July 26, 2021.

The Town of Aurora will be reinstating single hitting as part of our modified return-to-play for our Squash program. There will be no game, match play or spectators allowed. No more than one person per court, per booking. Court # 1 will be initially available for booking at the A.F.L.C.

Squash Memberships

Squash participants who wish to participate in Drop-in Squash, Single Hitting are able to participate on a pay-as-you-go option at $5 per activity.

Safe Practices

Club Aurora will be following best practices for cleaning and sanitization for the safety of all our participants. In addition to the facility’s COVID-19 procedures, Squash participants must: 

  • Wear face masks or face coverings, while in enclosed indoor facilities, covering the mouth, nose and chin. Squash participants may temporarily remove their face masks or face coverings when engaging in single hitting activity.
  • Make every reasonable effort to maintain physical distancing of 2-metres apart from others (i.e. staff and public) while in our facility.
  • Clean squash door handles prior to entry and upon exiting of the squash court.
  • Refrain from touching the walls, floors and other court surfaces.
  • Wear clean indoor footwear while on court. Outdoor shoes will not be permitted.
  • Certified eye guards are mandatory for those 17 years of age or younger and are recommended for all other participants.
  • Use of washroom facilities are strictly limited to those in the Family Pool Change room. Change room cubicles are for the exclusive use of aquatic participants.
The Chartwell Walking Indoor Track

Indoor Track - The Indoor Track will be closed until further notice.

Club Aurora features a 90 metre, indoor track with a rubberized sports surface. The track is free for all users and is open during facility operating hours. The track is to be used for walking and running. Spiked shoes are not permitted on the track surface.​

The following COVID-19 procedures are in place to ensure that participants can stay active in a safe and controlled manner within our community centres.

Facility Entry & Pre-Registration 
  • The walking track service is free to the public, however all participants must set-up an online account and pre-register online at e-PLAY
  • The maximum capacity per time slot is 10 participants at any given time.
  • Participants are able to pre-register in advance.
  • When a participant arrives at the facility, a Facility Greeter will take attendance for contact tracing purposes, and will confirm with them on every visit whether their conditions have changed since registration.
  • If a participant is feeling unwell, then they are asked to stay home and not attend their booked session.
  • If a participant is exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, then they will be asked to leave the building and get tested for COVID-19.
    • If they do not have means of transportation, then they will be placed in an isolation area within the building, until they can be picked up.
  • If a participant is unable to attend their booked session, then they are asked to cancel the booking spot in advance by email in an effort to provide fitness opportunities to other participants. Please email our Customer Service staff
Safe Practices
  • In an effort to promote physical distancing, both the gymnasium on the first floor and the walking track on the second floor will be opened simultaneously.
    • The gymnasium will be open and available for those who are walking.
    • The walking track will be open and available for those who are running.
  • Participants must:
    • Abide by all COVID-19 procedures outlined by Town staff.
    • Face masks or face coverings must be worn in enclosed indoor facilities, covering the mouth, nose and chin. Fitness participants may temporarily remove their face masks or face coverings when engaging in fitness activity.
    • Make every reasonable effort to maintain physical distancing of 3 metres apart from others (i.e. staff and public) through the fitness facility (i.e. walking track, gymnasium).
      • “Passing another person” while using the gymnasium or the walking track is permissible but recommended to avoid, as close contact is defined by breaking physical distancing for more than 10 minutes.
    • Follow the Town’s directional flow throughout the facility, including designated facility entries and exits.
      • Participants can enter the facility through the Main Entrance, however must exit the facility through the Back Entrance (i.e. A.F.L.C. north doors).
    • Bring and wear clean and dry footwear while participating.
      • Outdoor boots and shoes will not be permitted on the walking track or in the gymnasium.
Temporarily on Pause
  • Change room amenities, lockers, and showers will not be available – Fitness Change rooms can be used as washrooms only. It is recommended that fitness participants arrive in their fitness attire and place their items in the available cubicles.
  • Water fountains will not be available for use, however fitness participants are encouraged to bring their own pre-filled water bottles or utilize the automated water filling station.
  • The squash courts, cycle fit classes, and in-person group fitness classes are not available until further notice.
