Fitness and Health Programs

The Town of Aurora has fitness and health programs to suit all fitness interests and levels. 

Fitness Registered Programs

We offer a variety of health and fitness registered programs including yoga, arthritis aquafit and pilates.

Virtual Group Fitness Classes

Club Aurora is currently offering a variety of virtual group fitness classes for all ages and fitness levels. All classes are taught at a level that is suitable for beginner, intermediate and advanced participants. Refer to class descriptions for further details.

Fee: Adult Drop-In fee for virtual classes is $5 per person/per class.

How to Participate in Virtual Group Fitness Classes

  • Virtual Group Fitness classes will be taking place using Zoom (see schedule below). Please download the free Zoom Application and use the login information below to access the program:

Note: Only those who registered for the Virtual Group Fitness Program, and are on the Roster List will be admitted into the room. Please use the same name as it is listed on the registration account.

  • Participation information will be on the e-PLAY receipt upon registration.
  • You will require a computer device to access the Virtual Group Fitness class and it will take place in “real-time”. The Virtual Group Fitness class will not be recorded and accessible after when the class is complete.

Outdoor Group Fitness Classes 

Beginning in June, Club Aurora will be offering three group fitness classes in-person and outdoors at the A.F.L.C.; in the back parking lot, weather permitting.

How to Participate in Outdoor Group Fitness Classes

In keeping with provincial regulations, the following guidelines will be in effect: 

  • Pre-registration is required. Register online at e-PLAY
  • Participants will meet the instructor at the A.F.L.C. back parking lot no earlier than 5 minutes prior to the start of the class to complete facility screening check-in.
  • All participants must abide by all COVID-19 protocols and always maintain a 3m physical distance.
  • A maximum of 10 participants will be permitted per class.
  • All classes are weather permitting (extreme heat, lightning, or heavy rain). This will be determined one hour prior to the class start time and will be communicated through social media and email.
    • In the event of a cancelation, classes, except for cyclefit, will revert to a virtual option.
    • Refunds will be available to those who choose not to participate in the virtual option.
  • Participants must bring their own equipment for use in class, such as mat and water bottle.
    • Participants in the H.E.A.T. class will be supplied with a fitness band to keep, which can be used in subsequent classes.
  • Participants may access the washroom amenities in the Family Pool Change Room, however are not permitted to use the change room amenities.
  • All cancelation policies remain in effect. 
Cyclefit Classes

Cyclefit Classes are not being offered until further notice.

The Cyclefit classes will be held in squash court 2 with a maximum capacity of 5 participants at any given time. We are following best practices for cleaning, sanitization and all safety protocols.

Participants must:

  • Abide by all COVID-19 procedures outlined by Town staff.
  • Face masks or face coverings must be worn in enclosed indoor facilities, covering the mouth, nose, and chin. Fitness participants may temporarily remove their face masks or face coverings when engaging in fitness activity.
  • Make every reasonable effort to maintain physical distancing of 2-metres apart from others (i.e. staff and public) through the fitness facility (i.e. walking track, gymnasium).
  • Follow the Town’s directional flow throughout the facility, including designated facility entries and exits.
  • Participants must clean their bikes before and after use.
  • In an effort to minimize high contact areas and touch points, the use of clip on cycling shoes will not be permitted at this time.
    • Bring and wear clean and dry footwear while participating.
    • Outdoor boots and shoes will not be permitted on the court or on the bike.

"Prescription to Get Active" Program

Get Active! Prescription To Get Active is a national not-for-profit corporation that uses the power of the written prescription to encourage sedentary, at-risk Canadians to become more active. They are dedicated to improving the health of Canadians by providing an impactful program and making physical activity the most powerful prescription given.

The goal of the program is to support individuals to become more active, to equip doctors and their healthcare teams with the tools to educate their patients on the importance of physical activity and to partner with recreation facilities to provide accessible spaces within all communities.
