Due to the sever storm on Saturday, May 21, residents will be entitled to free yard waste drop-off from May 24 until June 5 at the following locations. Oversized branches will be accepted at these locations.

Residents are responsible for trees on their property and are asked to contact a private contractor to assist in clearing and removal. Small branches can be bundled for yard waste removal by GFL. Yard Waste Collection is this week. Please refer to the Waste Management Guide for set out guidelines. All yard waste must be bundled and tied and cannot exceed the length of four feet as it will not fit in the collection truck. Large branches or trunks are the responsibility of the homeowner and should not be placed at the curb for removal.

Multi-res and Small Business Recycling Tote Collection Holiday Monday's Change in Schedule

  • Monday, May 23 - No collection - GFL will collect on Friday, May 20
  • Monday, August 1 – No collection - GFL will collect on Friday, July 29
  • Monday, September 5 – No collection - GFL will collect on Friday, September 2
  • Monday, October 10 – No collection - GFL will collect on Friday, October 7

Residents are reminded that all waste and recycling items must be placed at the curbside by 7 a.m. on the morning of your collection day to ensure all material is picked up. Collection crews are unable to return for late setouts.

Please place your waste bins in a visible location at the end of your driveway and not on the roadway, sidewalk, or snowbank. Clear an area to place your bins and keep them back from the road. Snow plows cannot effectively clear the roads if bins are placed on the roadway and collection crews will not dig out or retrieve your bins from snowbanks.

Bag Tag Program

The Town of Aurora has implemented a new Bag Tag program. Aurora residents can place up to three-bags or containers out for pickup every other week on their regularly scheduled collection days and any additional waste will require a bag tag.

Bulky items such as furniture, mattresses, box springs, plastic lawn furniture, toilets (separated) and carpeting do not require a tag. (Up to 5 items maximum).

Bag Tags can be purchased for $5 each tax included and will be sold at:

  • Aurora Town Hall (100 John West Way)
  • Aurora Family Leisure Complex (135 Industrial Pkwy N)
  • Stronach Aurora Recreation Complex (1400 Wellington St E)

All garbage should be placed in a Town approved container or a plastic bag. Waste beyond the three-bag limit will require a bag tag sticker to be placed around the neck of the bag or it will not be picked up. Residents can put up to a maximum of six bags/bins of garbage out, three free and three paid.

Effective January 2022, bags will not be collected beyond the three (3) bag limit without a bag tag. Additional waste beyond the limit will have a non-compliant sticker placed on it and will be left behind.

We encourage residents to use the Recycle Coach app that can be downloaded to any iOS or Android device. The app provides pickup schedules, useful information on waste and a search function that tells you where a waste item belongs.

Windy Day Tips
On windy days, the lighter contents in blue boxes can often be found blowing out of bins resulting in litter on our streets and on our neighbour’s properties. When debris and litter fall on a residential property it’s the responsibility of the homeowner to clean it up as per the Clean Communities By-law 6257-20. Please be considerate when packing your blue boxes and use the suggestions below to keep your blue box contents in their place.
  • Place heavier items such as books and magazines on top of the lighter items. This should help prevent light blue box materials (such as paper) from blowing out of the bin and littering the streets.
  • Bundle cardboard and newspapers separately. These bundles can act as a 'lid' for your blue box.
  • On windy days, consider putting your recycling boxes out for collection in the morning, rather than the night before or skip that week's collection and place your recycling out for following week if your blue boxes aren't full.
  • Please keep plastic bags/film plastic, styrofoam (including take out containers) and disposal coffee and soft drink cups out of the blue box. These items are not recyclable in our program and should be placed in the garbage.
  • Don't overfill your blue box, keep material below the rim to prevent the wind from catching it and blowing it out of the bin.

There is no limit to the number of blue boxes residents can put out for weekly collection.  Additional blue boxes can be purchased for $15 tax included. Please call Access Aurora at 905-727-1375 to purchase a new bin. Bins will be delivered by Green for Life (GFL) within a week after purchase.

Please help to keep our community litter-free.

Attention Hollandview Trail and Baywell Cres. Residents

Green for Life (GFL) will start to collect all recycling and garbage on the side streets  due to the snow which creates narrow back lane ways in the winter time starting Thursday, December 9, 2021.

Please note, we will return to collecting recycling and garbage in the back lane ways starting Thursday, April 21, 2022.

As a reminder, please place your Blue Box, Green Bin and garbage at the curb by 7 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day. For inquiries please contact 905-727-3123 ext. 3447.
