The Town of Aurora is holding its annual Cleanup Day event to help keep our community litter-free.

The cleanup day will take place April 2024, exact date to be announced later in the year.

Grab your family, friends and colleague to participate in this great community event.

You can participate by following the steps below:

  1. Sign up at cleanup@aurora.ca to participate and receive a cleanup kit (while supplies last). The kit includes, two garbage bags, one clear recycling bag, one pair of nitrile gloves and safety tips. (Please indicate the number of people in your group in the email)
  2. Choose a public park, greenspace or trail to clean (target locations are listed below).
  3. Follow the safety tips provided in the kit.
  4. When you are finished, leave your garbage bags at the location you have cleaned up. All recycling bags must be brought back to Town Park (large blue bins will be on site to dispose). Please email cleanup@aurora.ca to indicate the location where your bags or large items need to be picked up.
  5. Tag us in your before and after photos on Facebook @townofaurora and using the hashtag #auroracleanup.
  6. Cleanup kits are available for pick up at the Joint Operations Centre, 229 Industrial Parkway North on: Tuesday, April 18, Wednesday April 19, and Thursday April 20. All kits will be out in the front entrance of the Joint Operations Centre for pick up from 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    Kits will also be available for pick up at Town Park on Saturday, April 22 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  7. Target locations for the cleanup are:

Curbside Giveaway Days

Participate in the 2023 Curbside Giveaway Days on the following weekends:

During Curbside Giveaway Days, Aurora residents are invited to place unwanted, gently used items clearly labelled FREE at the curb for other residents to take for their own use, free of charge.

This helps divert unwanted items out of landfill. All uncollected items should be removed from the curb after 5 p.m. on the Sunday.

Compost Giveaway

Calling all gardeners! Don't miss our FREE compost giveaway event on Saturday, May 6 from

10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Joint Operations Centre located at 229 Industrial Parkway North.

New this year the event will feature a drive-thru. Residents can drive to the JOC parking lot where staff will be on hand to place one bag of compost bag into each car.

One bag per vehicle. First come, first served, while supplies last.

This giveaway is our way of saying thank you to all homeowners who take part in our regional and municipal organics collection programs and to those who make Aurora a greener and more sustainable home for all.

E-Waste Days 

E-waste days take place on:

  • Saturday, January 21, 2023 (Complete)
  • Saturday, May 20, 2023 -(1 bag of compost per vehicle will also be given out at this event to residents who are interested, while supplies last)
  • Saturday, October 14, 2023

Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Location: Joint Operations Centre - 229 Industrial Parkway North.

Looking to safely dispose of old or unwanted electronics. Look no further! Join us at one of our E-Waste Collection events from 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Joint Operations Centre - 229 Industrial Parkway North.

E-waste is collected and processed by Quantum Lifecycle Partners LP. For more information, please call 905-727-1375. 

Ensure your electronics are recycled at a facility that has been approved by the Ontario Electronic Stewardship (OES). OES is a non-profit industry funded organization that oversees electronics recycling through a network of approved collection sites and processors across the province. All OES processors are audited against criteria developed by Electronic Product Stewardship Canada to ensure that electronics are managed in an environmentally sound manner.

Acceptable Items for E-waste collection

Items include information technology, telecommunications and audio-visual equipment that have a primary purpose of collecting, storing, processing, presenting or communicating information, including sounds and images, recording or reproducing sounds and images. Batteries supplied with the equipment are also accepted.

Community Garage Sale
Thank you to everyone who signed up for this year's community garage sale. We have received an overwhelming response to this event and all spots are filled

Event Details

Join us on Saturday, June 17 at the Aurora Community Centre Parking lot (1 Community Centre Lane, Aurora) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for our Community Garage Sale.

Don't miss out on this exciting event. Hunt for some new treasures, household items and more.

A food vendor will be on-site for a nominal fee.

Important event seller information

Once you register, you will receive a confirmation that your spot has been secured.

  • You will be provided with two parking spots to sell your items.
  • All registered participants are required to bring their own tables, chairs, and tents. Any items that were not sold must be taken away. Garbage collection will not be provided. All participants are responsible for their own waste.
  • No food, vendors or businesses are permitted to participate at this event.
  • A food donation is required for the use of the parking spots. A bin will be on site Saturday morning to drop off all food donations. All donations will be sent to the Aurora Food Pantry.
