E-waste event on January 23

Looking to get rid of an old tv, radio, computer or cell phone? Join us for the Town’s electronic recycling event on Saturday, January 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Joint Operations Centre (JOC) located at 229 Industrial Parkway North.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are only accepting electronics at this time. York Region is currently under a provincial lockdown at least until January 23. Provincial physical distancing guidelines and mandatory masks are in effect. Please check

Former Mayor and Councillor Evelyn BuckIt is with deep sadness that the Town of Aurora shares news of the passing of the former first female Mayor Evelyn Buck. Evelyn served as Mayor from 1973 to 1976 and then several terms as Councillor from 1981 to 1988 and then again from 2003 to 2014. She passed away on Monday, December 21 after losing a brief battle with multiple myeloma.

Santa Claus declared an essential service

On Wednesday, December 16, Federal Transportation Minister, Marc Garneau issued a statement that declared Santa Claus as an essential service in Canada and cleared him for travel throughout Canada on Christmas Eve.

Aurora Town Council are happy to follow the direction of the Federal Government and confirm that Santa and his reindeer will be able to visit all of the children in Aurora this coming Christmas.
