In response to increasing COVID-19 cases across Ontario, the Province has declared a State of Emergency and has enacted a Stay-at-Home Order effective 12:01 a.m. Thursday, January 14, 2021 advising all Ontarians to stay home except for essential purposes. Additional restrictions under the State of Emergency and Stay-at-Home Order include:
- Outdoor gatherings limited to a total of 5 people

Enjoy a cozy campfire and entertainment in a safe, physically distanced environment
Join us in Aurora Town Park on Friday nights this winter for a fun and friendly setting at our Friday Night Family Campfires! Starting on January 22, the Town will host two campfires each Friday evening. Bring your family to enjoy the cozy campfire and some wonderful entertainment. This program is open to Aurora residents only, and is free of charge, courtesy of the Government of Ontario.

Aurora's four outdoor ice pads (2 at Ada Johnson Park and 2 at Town Park) originally anticipated to open today, are unfortunately still not ready for public use. The temperatures overnight on the weekend did not get as cold as anticipated and that coupled with sunny, milder weather has delayed the process. The ice is not solid enough for safe skating and will remain closed. The second ice pad at Town Park is also experiencing some additional issues, which staff are working to rectify.

This week, Town staff will begin the construction of four outdoor natural ice rinks at Town Park and Ada Johnson Park. The outdoor rinks should be operational in the next few days. We ask that you please stay off the rinks during construction and respect the construction signs posted as conditions may not be safe to skate on.
Rinks will be created at the following locations:
- Town Park (49 Wells Street) - Two separate ice surfaces
- Ada Johnson Park (60 Hartwell Way) - Two separate ice surfaces

Staff raises over $35K to help the less fortunate in York Region
The Town of Aurora is celebrating the success of its 2020 United Way employee campaign which raised a total of $35,033, reaching 140 per cent of this year’s goal.
“I am extremely proud of the efforts of Town staff for coming together to help those in need in our community especially during the difficult times we are all facing. Thank you to staff for their generosity and support,” says Mayor Tom Mrakas.
