Description:

Central York Fire Services (CYFS) was dispatched to fire in a detached garage on Metcalfe Street.

CYFS crews from stations 4-1, 4-2 and 4-4 responded and upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke from the first and second floors of the building.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Town of Aurora’s administration offices will remain closed until further notice. Essential staff will continue to work on-site, and some services will be available by restricted access and/or appointment only.

Effective Wednesday, January 5 at 12:01 a.m., Ontario will move into a modified version of Step Two of Ontario’s roadmap to reopen for a minimum of 21 days. The Province of Ontario announced more COVID-19 restrictions due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant and increased hospitalizations.

Outdoor rinks update

Please note Town staff are working on installing outdoor rinks in Town Park, Machell Park and Ada Johnson Park.

Staff will be filling the rinks with water so the rinks can freeze over the next couple of days. These are natural outdoor rinks with no refrigeration and are solely dependent on outdoor weather conditions.

The Town will notify the public once the outdoor rinks are ready for use.

Holiday Waste Collection

Please be advised there will be no waste or recycling schedule changes for residential collection during the holidays.

Update tote collection change – Attention businesses and multi-residential customers, please be advised that the tote collection scheduled for Monday, December 27, 2021 and Monday, January 3, 2022 will be collected on Friday, December 24, 2021 and Friday, December 31, 2021.
