Official Plan Amendment and Zoning By-law Amendment Application - 26, 30, 32, 34-28 Berczy Street

On January 29, 2020, the Town of Aurora Planning and Development Division deemed the above noted application complete to permit a seven (7) storey mixed-use building on the subject lands municipally known as 26, 30, 32, 34-38 Berczy Street. The development is proposing commercial and retail uses at grade, residential uses for the remaining levels, roof-top amenity area, public urban square, and two (2) levels of underground parking.

A Public Planning Meeting was held on June 8, 2021 whereby residents cited concerns about the proposal including, but not limited to increased density, proposal height and incompatibility with neighbourhood profile, lack of pedestrian connectivity, traffic congestion, noise pollution, and removal of properties contained within the Aurora Register of Properties of Cultural Heritage Value and Interest.

On November 25, 2021, the applicants appealed Council’s failure to make a decision on the applications within the statutory time frame of 120 days, pursuant to the Planning Act, R.S.O 1990, c. P.13, as amended, to the Ontario Land Tribunal.
