Lace up your skates Aurora – the outdoor rinks are now open!

The cold weather is here and that means its time grab some friends and family and head over to one of our four outdoor skating rink locations for one of Canada’s most popular pastimes.

Our ice rinks serve as a welcoming space for our community to gather, socialize and be physically active. Pleasure skating is permitted at all our locations, and we also have two rinks dedicated for stick and puck play.

The significant weather event, declared due to a winter storm of snow and freezing rain on sidewalks, roadways, laneways, and bicycle lanes, commencing at 4 p.m. on Friday January 12, 2024, pursuant to O. Reg 239/02, is declared over as of 12 p.m. on Tuesday January 16, 2024. by The Corporation of The Town of Aurora.

We ask residents to continue to proceed with caution until all roadways, sidewalks, laneways and bicycle lanes are cleared and monitor the Town’s website for further announcements.

The Corporation of The Town of Aurora declares a significant weather event due to the pending winter storm event in the Town of Aurora. Snow and freezing rain on sidewalks, roadways, laneways, and bicycle lanes, commencing at 4 p.m. on Friday January 12, 2024, pursuant to O. Reg 239/02.

During this time, proceed with caution and anticipate that sidewalks, roads, laneways, and bicycle lanes may be heavy with snow, form ice and become slippery.

Seeking input on Recreational Program Needs for Persons with Disabilities

The Town of Aurora is developing a Recreation Needs Assessment for Persons with Disabilities in our community. This initiative was identified as an action item within the recently approved Parks and Recreation Master Plan in June 2023. It is also part of the Town’s commitment to providing fair and equitable access to programs and services.

Water Billing Update

We are aware of a billing error issue on some resident water/sewer bills. There were only 45 accounts that were impacted, and we have already corrected the accounts affected.
