Incident Type: Structure Fire

Address / location of incident: Yonge Street, Aurora

Description: Central York Fire Services (CYFS) responded to a reported structure fire. The structure was confirmed to be a storage shed. Command adopted a defensive strategy. Hose lines were deployed, and water relay was established due to the long access road to the property. The storage shed was vacant at the time of the fire operations.

Cause of incident: Undetermined.

Casualties / Injuries: No injuries.

Community Impact: A portion of Yonge Street in the area was closed and has since reopened.

Current Status: CYFS has fully extinguished the fire.

Resources Used: CYFS responded with four trucks, 16 firefighters and a Chief Officer. CYFS worked in collaboration with York Regional Police and York Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

Fire Safety Tips: When a fire occurs, the top priority is to get outside. If possible, when you leave, close the door behind you to help contain the fire. Then, meet at a designated safe spot outside.
