Aurora is proud to announce its partnership with the Treat Accessibly initiative, a grassroots movement dedicated to ensuring an inclusive and accessible Halloween experience for all children, regardless of their abilities.

Spearheaded by the Padulo Family in 2017, Treat Accessibly has rapidly gained momentum and support, with over 100,000 homes across Canada participating in accessible trick-or-treating, demonstrating their commitment to inclusivity.

"Our community believes in fostering an environment where every child can participate and enjoy the excitement of Halloween," said Mayor Mrakas. “By embracing the Treat Accessibly initiative, we are taking steps to ensure that no child is left out, and we look forward to celebrating a truly inclusive Halloween together."

The Treat Accessibly initiative encourages households of all types to take a few simple steps to make their trick-or-treating stations accessible to children with disabilities. These steps include providing barrier-free access, creating a safe environment with sensory considerations, and offering non-edible treats for those with dietary restrictions. By participating in the initiative, the Town of Aurora affirms its dedication to ensuring that every child can enjoy a traditional Halloween experience.

To support the Treat Accessibly initiative and promote inclusivity, residents are encouraged to participate and proudly display the Treat Accessibly lawn sign to signify their commitment to an inclusive Halloween for all.

Residents are asked to register online to participate and will receive a free lawn sign. To register or to learn more about the Treat Accessibility initiative, visit aurora.ca/treataccessibly.
