Aurora Yonge Street Feedermain Replacement and Rehabilitation

The Regional Municipality of York is rehabilitating and replacing sections of an aging water feedermain along Yonge Street, from Murray Drive and Edward Street to Ridge Road, in the Town of Aurora.

The work will extend the life of the feedermain and makes sure critical water services are continually provided.A temporary, local road restriction on Ridge Road, from Yonge Street to Glensteeple Trail is required as sections of the feedermain are being replaced.

Ridge Road temporary road restriction: From Monday, May 1, to July 31, 2023.

What are the impacts:

  • No right or left turns from Yonge Street onto Ridge Road will be permitted; local traffic can access Ridge Road and Yonge Street from Glensteeple Trail; please slow down when travelling in the area and follow the posted detour signs
  • Access to all homes and businesses will be maintained; emergency services access to Ridge Road will be maintained
  • Access to Canada Post community mailboxes will be maintained
  • York Region Transit (YRT) service will be maintained along Yonge Street; riders can call the YRT contact centre at 1-866-668-3978or visit yrt.ca  for schedule information.
  • Due to the nature of the work, there will be some construction-related noise and dust from the equipment and trucks and every effort to minimize this will be made
  • There are no planned impacts to your water or wastewater servicesWe understand work on underground infrastructure can be disruptive.

Thank you for your patience while we complete this vital work. As with all construction projects, some work may be re-scheduled due to weather or other conditions.
