Active Transportation Master Plan

Aurora Town Council received a presentation on the draft Active Transportation Master Plan (ATMP) by WSP Canada Inc., the company retained to support the development of the plan. The Town undertook an ATMP to review and assess the long-term plan to guide its growth and make a safe and connected network for walking, biking and other activities on the road. The ATMP has recommendations for the next 20 years to handle Aurora’s projected growth and find ways to make transportation sustainable and safe for everyone. A future staff report will be presented to Council to seek approval of the finalized ATMP.

2024 Development Charges Study and By-law Final Approval

Aurora Town Council approved the Town's updated Development Charges Background Study Report By- Law. Development charges fund the expansion of services and increase of capacity of municipal infrastructure to meet the needs of the growing community. As per the Development Charges Act (DCA), the Town's development charge bylaw is due for its review.

Motion on Digital Data Governance and Smart Technology

A motion put forward by Councillor Rachel Gilliland and adopted by Council requests staff report back with the feasibility of developing a digital governance framework, like a digital data charter, focused on protecting human rights and privacy. This framework would make sure data is collected, managed and used ethically and responsibly, with a focus on privacy, transparency and getting consent. The motion also requested that staff report back to Council for direction prior to investing, installing or integrating technology, owned by the Town or managed by a third party, that is capable of identification of persons through image recognition technology.

Motion on Council Compensation

A motion put forward by Councillor John Gallo and adopted by Council requests that the 2024 budget be amended to include the total cost of council compensation as outlined in the October 24, 2023 resolution. The motion directs that the cost is to be funded from the tax stabilization reserve.
