The Town of Aurora has taken another important step to address its parkland deficit, acquiring eight acres of land in south Aurora that will provide community members with even greater access to green spaces, parkland and recreational activities. The land, situated at 672 and 684 Henderson Drive and acquired by the Town for $2. 5 million through its Parkland Reserve Fund, contains key natural heritage features, including sensitive woodland and a watercourse as part of the of the Oak Ridges Conservation Plan.
A documentary film about the restoration efforts at the historic pet cemetery in Aurora, produced in conjunction with the Aurora Museum & Archives, has won a prestigious Telly Award, which honours excellence in video and television. The Town of Aurora proudly announces the adoption of its Active Transportation Master Plan (ATMP), marking a significant milestone in fostering a healthier, more connected community. The ATMP, developed collaboratively with the community and its partners, is a comprehensive blueprint for promoting and enhancing active transportation in Aurora over the next 20 years.
In this video, Collections & Exhibitions Coordinator Michelle Johnson discusses the #AuroraTownSquare project's history, dating back to the late '70s. The Museum's collection, with over 30,000 items, will benefit from the new exhibition space, display cases, picture hanging rail and environmentally controlled storage space at Aurora Town Square, providing new ways for the community to enjoy the collection.
