Slabtown Armoury

The Town of Aurora is excited to announce that the Aurora Armoury will soon usher in a new chapter as Slabtown Armoury, operated by Slabtown Cider Company, beginning October 1, 2025.

Slabtown is a community-focused business celebrated for its farm-to-table dining, small-batch ciders and beers, and commitment to bringing people together. Their arrival at the Aurora Armoury will transform this historic landmark into a vibrant destination that combines culinary experiences, community programming, and opportunities to book the space for private functions and special events.

This partnership reflects the Town’s commitment to revitalizing downtown Aurora while ensuring the Armoury remains a gathering place for residents and visitors alike.

Details about Slabtown Armoury’s hours, menus, and booking opportunities will be shared closer to the October 1 launch.

About the Aurora Armoury

Opened in 1874 as a drill shed for the York Rangers, the Aurora Armoury has long played a defining role in both local and national history. It was the site of MP Dominick Edward Blake’s famous “National Sentiment Speech” and a gathering place for generations of Aurorans – from wartime sendoffs and VE Day celebrations to concerts, wrestling matches, and dances.

In 2014, the Town purchased the building and invested in a major restoration, returning it to the community as a modern gathering place. Beginning in 2019, Niagara College operated the facility, establishing it as a hub for culinary excellence.

Today, through its new partnership with Slabtown, the Armoury continues its proud legacy, serving as a lively centre for food, culture, and community connection in downtown Aurora.
