Friday, May 1, 2026

First day to file a nomination paper for the offices of Mayor, Councillor and School Board Trustee.

  • Nominations Open
  • Once the nomination paper is filed with the Town Clerk, the candidate can begin raising and spending funds, at which point they are provided with a preliminary spending limit.

First day to file a notice of registration as a third-party advertiser.

  • A third-party advertiser cannot raise or spend money on their campaign, nor begin advertising, until the Town Clerk certifies their registration.
  • Preliminary spending limit provided to third party advertiser upon certification.

Sunday June 7: 11am - 5pm
The Festival takes place directly on Yonge Street in the heart of Aurora. Yonge Street is closed from Wellington Street (north end) to Murray Drive (south end).

  • File a nomination.
  • Withdraw a nomination.
  • Change office.

Monday, August 24, 2026

By 4 p.m.

  • Last day for the Town Clerk to certify candidate nomination papers.

Wednesday, September 30, 2026

  • Final spending limits provided to candidates and registered third party advertisers.
  • Final self-contribution limit provided to candidates running for Mayor and Councillor (does not apply to School Board Trustee candidates).

Friday, October 23, 2026

  • Last day to register as a third-party advertiser.

Monday, October 26, 2026

  • Election Day.

Tuesday, November 17, 2026

  • Inaugural meeting of the 2026-2030 Term of Council.
