The Establishment of Wards in the Town of Aurora

On July 14, 2020, Aurora Council passed By-law No. 6271-20 to establish Ward boundaries, effective for the 2022 Municipal Election.

The Town of Aurora has six ward systems. When residents vote in the 2026 Municipal Election, they will be voting for a mayor and one Ward Councillor.

Ward Details

The Town undertook an Electoral System Review, conducted by Beate Bowron, Etcetera to determine appropriate Ward boundaries. For more information view the final ESR report from this review or visit our Electoral System Review webpage for more information.

Ward Boundaries

The Ward Boundaries are as follows:

The area begins at the northwest corner of the Town of Aurora. From there, it runs east along Aurora’s northern boundary to Bayview Avenue, then south along Bayview Avenue to St. John’s Sideroad. It continues west along St. John’s Sideroad to the railway tracks, then south along the railway tracks to Yonge Street. From there, it goes north along Yonge Street to Orchard Heights Boulevard, then west along Orchard Heights Boulevard to Aurora’s western boundary, and finally north along that boundary back to the starting point.

Starting at where Orchard Heights Boulevard meets Aurora’s western boundary, the area runs east along Orchard Heights Boulevard to Yonge Street. It then goes south along Yonge Street to Kennedy Street West, west along Kennedy Street West to Aurora’s western boundary, and finally north along that boundary back to the starting point.

Starting at where Kennedy Street West meets Aurora’s western boundary, the area goes east along Kennedy Street West to Yonge Street. It then goes south along Yonge Street to the railway crossing, follows the railway tracks southwest to Aurora’s western boundary, and then goes north along that boundary back to the starting point.

Starting at the southwest corner of Aurora, the area runs north along the town’s western boundary to the railway tracks. It then follows the tracks northeast to Wellington Street, goes east along Wellington Street to Aurora’s eastern boundary, then south along the eastern boundary to the southern boundary, and finally west along the southern boundary back to the starting point.

Starting at the intersection of the railway tracks and St. John’s Sideroad, the area goes east along St. John’s Sideroad to Mavrinac Boulevard, then south along Mavrinac Boulevard to Wellington Street East. It continues west along Wellington Street East to the railway tracks, then north along the tracks back to the starting point.

Starting at the northeast corner of Aurora, the area goes south along the eastern boundary to Wellington Street East, then west along Wellington Street East to Mavrinac Boulevard. It continues north along Mavrinac Boulevard to St. John’s Sideroad, west along St. John’s Sideroad to Bayview Avenue, then north along Bayview Avenue to the northern boundary, and finally east along the northern boundary back to the starting point.
