Street and Sidewalk Sweeping

Street Sweepers are out on the roads cleaning up leaves and debris. Street sweeping and fall clean up activities will be on going until late November (weather permitting).

Crews will be working over the next four to six weeks to clean all streets, sidewalks, walkways, boulevards, pathways, and islands across the community. This seasonal maintenance also includes litter and debris cleanup, parking lot sweeping, and walkway cleaning to help keep the Town clean, safe, and looking its best.

Help us keep our roads clean by following these important steps.

  • Do not push leaves or debris onto the road
  • Please place waste bins on the boulevard, not on the roadway or sidewalk, to keep sidewalks clear for sweeping and inspections.
  • Please avoid parking on the street between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday to Friday, to help crews work safely and efficiently.
  • Please keep basketball nets, road hockey equipment and any other obstructions off the road to prevent damage and allow crews full access.
  • Developers are responsible for sweeping in active construction areas.

All streets and sidewalks that are owned and assumed by the Town will be swept.

Streets in new subdivisions with base course asphalt, sidewalks not continuously connected or under construction, will be the responsibility of the subdivision developer.

Private streets and sidewalks are the responsibility of the condominium/townhouse development owner.

For effective sweeping, we need to get to the curb and sidewalk without interference. To help with that please:

  • Try to avoid Monday to Friday daytime parking on your street, if possible
  • Do not park vehicles over the curb or sidewalk
  • Place your garbage, recycling or yard waste on your driveway, away from the curb
  • Do not place basket ball nets on the road or hanging over the curb

Remember safety is important for everyone, please watch children carefully when the sweepers are on the roadway.

The spring street sweeping program typically takes up to six weeks to complete but may be delayed by weather, parked vehicles or excessive amounts of winter sand or debris.
