Blue Box Transition

Blue Box Transition

Ontario municipalities will transition to a producer-led Blue Box program under the province’s new Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) model.  This means producers of recyclable materials will fully fund and operate the program.

What’s Changing?

Starting December 31, 2025, blue box collection will be collected by a contractor managed by Circular Materials, a non-profit representing producers. Collection days are expected to remain the same, but accepted materials may change.

For full details on the new blue box program and how this impacts residents and businesses visit our Blue Box page.
