Town of Aurora Wins Multiple International Awards for Communications and Digital Innovation

Grand Opening Campaign and Town Website Redevelopment Earn International Honours

Aurora, ON – The Town of Aurora has received five international awards recognizing excellence in marketing, communications, and digital innovation, including four MarCom Awards and one dotCOMM Award, administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP).

The Town received four MarCom Awards for Aurora Town Square’s Grand Opening, held September 21 – October 13, 2024. Gold honours recognized the Integrated Marketing Campaign and Video Ad, led by the Corporate Communications Division, which generated excitement and strong attendance for weeks of performances, programming, and events. Gold was also awarded to the small in-house team that executed the Grand Opening, bringing residents, artists, and partners together throughout the multi-week celebration. An Honourable Mention for Branding Excellence highlighted the campaign’s cohesive visual identity across hundreds of marketing materials. Together, these initiatives engaged thousands of residents and visitors during the launch of the Town’s new cultural hub.

The Town also earned Gold at the dotCOMM Awards for the aurora.ca website redevelopment, creating a modern, accessible, and high-performing site in under seven months.

“These awards are a tremendous recognition of the teamwork, innovation, and commitment that went into bringing Aurora Town Square to life and transforming our digital presence,” said Mayor Tom Mrakas. “Our staff continue to demonstrate creativity and excellence, from community engagement to digital transformation. I’m incredibly proud of what has been achieved.”

The MarCom Awards is one of the largest and most respected creative competitions in the world, with over 6,000 entries submitted annually from more than 40 countries. The dotCOMM Awards honour excellence in web creativity and digital communication. Both programs are administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP), which sets standards for excellence and recognizes outstanding work in the field.
