Dust By-law

Aurora Town Council passed a by-law to regulate dust. Respirable dust generated through residential construction activities, including the cutting of concrete, stone, masonry products and similar building materials may negatively impact neighbouring properties, workers and nearby residents. A standalone dust by-law provides clear and enforceable regulatory framework and reflects municipal best practices.

Cannabis Retail Review Task Force – Findings and Recommendations

Aurora Town Council approved the recommendations from the Cannabis Retail Review Task Force. The Task Force was established in February with a mandate to provide recommendations to Council on potential actions or advocacy initiatives to address identified challenges and support balanced community outcome. Recommendations include improving public information and reporting, encourage retailer and property-owner engagement and strengthened advocacy.

Motion Regarding the Use of Council Conference Budget

A motion put forward by Councillor Wendy Gaertner and supported by Council requests that staff review the Compensation and Support for Members of Council policy, with a focus on the use of Council budget for conferences and report back to the next Council on a process to ensure the appropriate use of taxpayers’ money.

Motion to Review York Region District School Board (YRDSB) Gymnasium Permitting Fee Schedule

A motion put forward by Councillor Ron Weese and supported by Council requests the York Region District School Board (YRDSB) review their permitting fee schedule and consider its impact on not-for-profit community sport organizations and the affordability of children’s and youth sport programming. In addition, the motion requests YRDSB consult with those impacted and either restore rates or establish a dedicated rate for non-profit community sport groups.
