Meeting Schedule for the Remainder of the Council Term
Aurora Town Council approved amendments to the 2026 meeting schedule, including the cancellation of the July Council cycle. To accommodate key business, one meeting of the Cannabis Retail Review Task Force will be added in August and a Public Planning meeting will be scheduled in December.
Council Conference Review and Reporting Framework
Aurora Town Council approved a new reporting framework for members attending conferences, seminars and external events at the Town’s expense. Under the framework, Members of Council will be required to submit a standardized post-event report and provide an update at the next Council meeting. The report will include the event name, date and location, total Town costs, and key learnings and takeaways.
Zoning By-law Amendment and Draft Plan of Subdivision for 1289 Wellington Street East
Aurora Town Council approved an application to amend the Zoning By-law and approved the Draft Plan of Subdivision for lands at 1289 Wellington Street East to facilitate the development of 171 townhouse dwellings. The proposed development conforms to the provincial, regional and municipal policies.
Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendment for 16003 Yonge Street, 255 and 219 Old Yonge Street
Aurora Town Council approved Official Plan and Zoning By-law amendments for 16003 Yonge Street and 219 and 255 Old Yonge Street to facilitate a residential redevelopment project. The amendments redesignate and rezone the lands for medium-high density residential, detached residential and environmental protection uses. Council also approved a Heritage Permit for the relocation and alteration of the historic Red House, subject to a Conservation Management Plan and future site plan and development agreement approvals. Implementing by-laws will be considered at a future Council meeting.
Zoning By-law Amendment Application for 16 and 20 Allaura Boulevard
Aurora Town Council approved a Zoning By-law Amendment for 16 and 20 Allaura Boulevard to facilitate the development of 221 stacked townhouse units on a private road. The proposed development conforms to the provincial, regional and municipal policies.
