Town Hall Accommodation Plan – Funding Increase

Aurora Town Council approved an increase of $16,400 to the Town Hall Accommodation Study, bringing the project’s total revised budget authority to $96,400 in budget authority. The original scope of the capital project was expanded to include all administrative spaces at both Town Hall and the Joint Operations Centre and provide Council the information needed to best guide future plans.

Council Compensation Review

Aurora Town Council received a report from staff on the creation of a Council Compensation Committee. Council amended the motion to decline the creation of a committee and a further amendment was approved to decline an external consultant. Staff will draft a report and present to Council in 2026.

Zoning Bylaw Amendments for 511, 521, 531, and 543 Wellington Street West

Aurora Town Council approved a zoning bylaw amendment for 511, 521, 531 and 543 Wellington Street West to permit 114 back-to-back stacked townhouses within four blocks. The proposed development conforms to the provincial, regional and municipal policies.

Official Plan and Zoning Bylaw Amendments for 25 and 55 Addison Hall Circle

Aurora Town Council approved an official plan amendment and zoning bylaw amendment for 25 and 55 Addison Hall Circle to facilitate the development of 201 townhouse dwelling units. The proposed development conforms to the provincial, regional and municipal policies. By converting these lands for residential use, the Town can better meet the need for housing with minimal impact to employment lands required to meet the Town’s job density target.

Zoning By-law Amendment for 115 George Street

Aurora Town Council approved a zoning bylaw amendment for 115 George Street to permit 6 detached residential lots on the former George Street Public School property. The rezoning will also create 0.75 hectare of new public park, which may include multi-sport courts, a playground, open space, and trail connections to the existing Tannery Creek corridor and Lions Park. The existing Environmental Protection Zone boundary will be maintained, ensuring the continued protection of the floodplain and natural features. The proposed application conforms to the provincial, regional and municipal policies.

Doors Open 2025 Summary

Aurora Town Council authorized staff to host another in-person Doors Open event in 2026 following the success of the 2025 event. This year’s event featured 20 participating sites and programs with 2,544 site visits recorded.

Motion Regarding Establishing an Ultimate Grilled Cheese Challenge in Aurora

A motion put forward by Rachel Gilliland and supported by Council requests that town staff, in collaboration with stakeholders, explore the establishment of an Ultimate Grilled Cheese Challenge to stimulate economic development, tourism, and support local businesses and report back to Council with recommendations.
