Address / location of incident: Vandorf Side Road, Aurora

Description: Central York Fire Services (CYFS) responded to a report of a structure fire. The property is in a rural area within Aurora with no hydrant water supply available. Therefore, CYFS performed tanker shuttle operations. Richmond Hill Fire & Emergency Services assisted with mutual aid and by providing a tanker truck and personnel.

Upon arrival, the first arriving fire engine reported heavy black smoke coming from the main floor. Fire crews made entry, located a fire in the basement.

Cause of incident: Accidental (Electrical)

Casualties / Injuries: None.

Community Impact: Vandorf Side Road closed from Leslie Street to the location of the affected home.

Current Status: CYFS has fully extinguished the fire.

Resources Used: CYFS responded with 4 trucks, 17 firefighters, one Chief Officer and one Senior Officer. Other responding agencies included York Regional Police (YRP), York Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the local utility company.
