Central York Fire Services Incident Report - Aurora Heights Drive - April 27, 2026

Description: Central York Fire Services (CYFS) responded to a report of a structure fire where a second alarm was raised when the fire was extended to the neighbouring structure.

Command adopted an offensive strategy. Hose lines were deployed. Crews remained on scene for fire watch and assisted the CYFS investigators.

Cause of incident: Still under investigation

Casualties / Injuries: None. Two firefighters were injured during firefighter operations with minor injuries. Crews found a cat non-responsive in one of the residences and worked collaboratively performing CPR and resuscitated the cat. The cat was transferred to an arriving vet.

Community Impact: Crews still on scene. Aurora Heights Drive access is limited.

Current Status: CYFS has fully extinguished the fire.

Resources Used: CYFS responded with 7 trucks, 28 firefighters and one Chief Officer. Other responding agencies included York Regional Police (YRP) and York Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
