Parking Tickets for Aurora

The Town of Aurora’s parking tickets have a new look. Aurora's parking tickets will now say Penalty Notice on them. The Penalty Notices are bright yellow in colour, are water resistant. Penalty Notices can be paid through GTECHNA’s website. Users can view their Penalty Notice history and photos of the infraction.

If you received a Penalty Notice, you can pay online through the Ticket Portal

Administrative Monetary Penalty System (AMPS)

The Administrative Monetary Penalty System (AMPS) is the Town of Aurora’s resolution process that allows parking and non-parking offence matters to be heard by the Town, instead of through the Provincial Offences Act (POA) and the regional court system.

The AMPS system simplifies the process of resolving penalty notices and provides staff with increased discretion to resolve penalty notices, decrease wait times and improve the customer’s experience.

You have two options when you are issued a penalty notice.

Under the new AMPS system, Officers will issue a Penalty Notice to a vehicle or person that is in violation of Aurora’s by-laws. The notice will present two options, pay the ticket, or request a meeting with a Screening Officer to dispute the Penalty Notice.

You have two options when you are issued a penalty notice. You can:

  1. Pay the ticket
  2. Request a meeting with a Screening Officer to dispute the notice. You have 30 days to do this from when the notice was issued.

If you are disputing your penalty notice, you must book a screening review appointment.

Failure to appear for a scheduled screening will result in a $25 “Non-Appearance Fee” in accordance with Schedule “C” of the by-law.

Occasional Use on Street Parking Permits (OUPP)

Occasional Use Parking Permits are only eligible for Ontario License Plates. For out of Province Licence plates please contact the Town of Aurora at 905-727-1375 or email our By-law department.

Not valid for Commercial Vehicles

How it Works

The Occasional Use on Street Parking Permits (OUPP) program allows residents or visitors to apply online for up to 12 free parking passes per vehicle each year (from January to December) through GTECHNA’s web portal. The OUPP would assist residents who require an extra parking space for overnight visitors or require an extra space. This will allow residents and visitors of the Town to apply for, and receive, a parking exemption for the prohibitions of parking longer than 24 hours and parking between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.

  • 12 permits a year, per license plate (January to December)
  • Permits are valid for 24 hours.
  • Permits are free and available 24/7 online.
  • Multiple day and plate permits can be issued at once for user convenience until maximum is reached.
  • Permits are issued electronically and are automatically attached to the license plate - no print and display required.
  • Permits will not be valid or issued during active snow events, which would include the day(s) before, during, or after a major event, when plowing or salting are taking place.
The permit is not an exemption from the remaining provisions within the By-law:
  • No parking within 3 meters of a fire hydrant
  • No parking within 60 cm of a driveway
  • No parking within 15 meters of an intersection
  • No parking in a fire route
  • No parking left wheels to curb, park/stop contrary to sign, etc.

Issued permits are null and void in the event of inclement weather and/or the deployment of snow clearing/salting measures

Please note: Tickets will NOT be cancelled if an error is made when entering your licence plate and/or Province/State information.

Restrictions
  • Permits will not be valid if attached to commercial vehicle or to a tow truck.
  • All vehicles must have a valid licence plates belonging to the vehicle it is attached to.
  • Permits will be revoked during an active snow event.
  • Permits will not be issued during an active snow event.

For more information on the Occasional Use on Street Parking permits email our By-law department.

  • The Parking Permit is only valid at the location identified on the Permit Application.
  • Vehicles may only park in the assigned permitted area.
  • Permit Holder may be required to move vehicle temporarily to facilitate maintenance of parking areas or to accommodate other Town of Aurora business. Notice will be provided to Permit Holder.
  • Town Hall: Permit Holders may not park in Town Hall Parking Lot between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM. Vehicle must be parked in designated parking area. Failure to comply with the above may result in a Parking Ticket being issued and the Parking Permit being revoked.

School Zone Safety

The safety of children and students is a major priority for the Town of Aurora. Aurora By-law Services often receives complaints from residents and school staff about parking violations in our school zones.

Drivers often park or stop in "No Parking" or "No Stopping" zones, park too close to driveways or intersections and park in fire routes. Drivers committing these violations are not only disobeying the Town’s Parking Bylaw but creating unsafe situations for everyone and placing children at risk of injury.

To improve traffic congestion and to promote a safer environment within school zones, The Town of Aurora’s By-law Enforcement Officers will be proactively patrolling all schools and continuing to respond to complaints.  The following information is provided to assist drivers in understanding the most common parking violations at the Town's school zones:
