Two Wins One Celebration Community Event!

We’ll be welcoming home Aurora native and NHL Champion Barclay Goodrow for a community event. The Left Winger will be in Aurora as he celebrates his team’s second Stanley Cup win. Join us to celebrate.

Date: Thursday, August 26, 2021

Location: Machell Park

Time: 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

  • The community will be permitted to enter the park starting at 11:30 a.m., arrive early to guarantee entry.
  • Barclay Goodrow will arrive with the Stanley Cup at approximately 12:40 p.m.

Parking: Aurora Community Centre

Activities & Entertainment 

There will be many exciting activities to enjoy during the event including.

  • Between the Pipes interview with Barclay Goodrow.
  • Picture with the Stanley Cup (no one will be permitted to touch the Stanley Cup).
  • Photo booth.
  • Hockey shoot with the Aurora Jr A Tigers.
  • Presentation by the Aurora Sports Hall of Fame.
  • And much more!
Procedures & Protocols

The following safety protocols and procedures will be in place for the event.

  • Everyone that enters the park must complete a contact tracking and screening process through a QR code scanned to your phone at the entrance.
  • Masks are required, except when eating or drinking.
  • Physical distancing is required.
  • Hand sanitization stations will be located throughout the park.
  • When capacity is met, no one else will be permitted in the park.
Win a Chance to Interview Barclay Goodrow 

The Town of Aurora is excited to provide a few community members with a chance to ask Barclay Goodrow a question, in person. Here is what you need to know.

  1. Three community members will be randomly selected to ask Barclay Goodrow questions on the stage at the Two Wins One Celebration Community Event.
    • Two community members will be selected through a random draw.
    • The third from those that sign up for the Stanley Cup Goosechase (see below for details).
  2. The following people are eligible to enter in the draw:
    • Individuals 16 years of age or younger;
    • Are not currently registered with York Simcoe Express, Aurora Minor Hockey Association and Central York Girls Hockey Association for the 2021-2022 season. Hint – They will be selecting some players that have registered to also participate in this exciting opportunity.
  3. Interested community members must submit their name, parent/guardian name, email address, phone number and two possible questions you would want to ask Barclay Goodrow to Erin Hamilton by Monday, August 23 at 12 p.m.
  4. Selected community members will be notified by Monday, August 23 at 3 p.m. If you are not contacted, you have not been selected.
    Stanley Cup Warm Up Challenge on GooseChase 

    To get you warmed up to see Lord Stanley in person, participate in the Stanley Cup Warm Up Challenge. Participants with the most points will have a chance to be randomly chosen to go up to the stage and ask Barclay Goodrow two questions.

    The Stanley Cup Warm Up Challenge ends on Monday, August 23 at 5 p.m.
