The Town of Aurora is pleased to announce that they have joined a group of leading organizations by achieving Silver-level Certification from Excellence Canada, Canada’s pre-eminent recognition program for organizational excellence. In meeting the rigour of the requirements, the Town has demonstrated that it is among the best managed organizations in Canada.

“This award recognizes and celebrates our organization’s commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and an environment that values innovation and wellness. Everyday our Team Aurora members work hard to collaborate and find new ways to better serve our community and each other,” says Town of Aurora Chief Administrative Officer Doug Nadorozny.

The Excellence Canada process is built on five pillars: leadership, planning, customers, people and processes. These pillars are recognized as driving excellence, innovation and wellness in organizations. There are four levels of certification – bronze, silver, gold and platinum – enabling organizations to use a staged approach to improvement. The Town of Aurora received the Excellence Canada Bronze Certification in 2014 and joins a cohort of leading organizations in Canada, including York Region, Durham Region and Peel Regional Police, who have embraced the Excellence Canada journey to organizational excellence.

The Town of Aurora was commended for, among other items, its employee recognition event, staff wellness committee, industry leadership in records management, interactive livestreaming of Council meetings, and promoting a culture of innovation where employees are encouraged to express ideas.

“The Town of Aurora is always looking for ways to be more efficient and effective and I’m pleased staff are being acknowledged for their efforts,” says Town of Aurora Mayor Tom Mrakas. “Having a proven framework for continual improvement is incredibly valuable and I appreciate the dedication and hard work of staff throughout this process.”
