It is with deep sadness that the Town of Aurora shares news of the passing of former Councillor Ron Wallace. Ron served as a member of Council for several terms from 1994 to 1997 and from 2000 to 2006. He passed away on Sunday, November 22 after battling an atypical parkinsonism-related disease.

“We are deeply saddened at the passing of Ron Wallace, fondly known as Mr. Aurora. This is a profound loss to our community. Ron was a remarkable community leader that gave tirelessly to many local associations. His work in Aurora will not be forgotten,“ says Aurora Mayor Tom Mrakas.

In addition to serving on Council, Ron sat on various local boards and was also a York Region District School Board Trustee. He was the recipient of the Citizen of the Year award in 2013 and was also honored for his work by receiving the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012.

Flags at Town Hall will be lowered to half-staff in honour of Ron.

A celebration of life will be arranged in the future. Online condolences can be left at dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/aurora-on/ronald-wallace-9913183.
