Central York Fire Services Incident Report
Incident Type: Working Basement Fire
Date: September 7, 2020
Time of Call: 10:19 a.m.
Address / location of incident: Langman Place, Aurora

Central York Fire Services (CYFS) was dispatched to a home on Langman Place for reports of a house fire.

On arrival, the first crew reported a working basement fire, adopted an offensive strategy and requested a second alarm.
The fire was declared under control at 11:21 p.m. The house suffered significant damage in the basement and first floor.

CYFS worked in collaboration with York Regional Police, York Paramedic Services and Alectra. Richmond Hill and East Gwillimbury provided station coverage under the mutual aid agreement.

Cause of incident: The origin of the fire was from the basement. The cause is yet to be determined by CYFS investigators.  
Casualties / Injuries: The single resident was alerted by working smoke alarms and had evacuated the building prior to CYFS arrival. That resident was assessed by paramedics and transported to Southlake Regional Health Centre for further assessment related to smoke inhalation. The resident has since been released. No other injuries to report.  
Community Impact: No impact to the community.
Resources Used: CYFS had 6 trucks, one Command vehicle, 27 firefighters and one Chief Officer on scene.
