This week, Town staff will begin the construction of four outdoor natural ice rinks at Town Park and Ada Johnson Park. The outdoor rinks should be operational in the next few days. We ask that you please stay off the rinks during construction and respect the construction signs posted as conditions may not be safe to skate on.

Rinks will be created at the following locations:

  • Town Park (49 Wells Street) - Two separate ice surfaces
  • Ada Johnson Park (60 Hartwell Way) - Two separate ice surfaces

With Aurora in the Grey-lockdown zone, all ice rinks will have a maximum capacity of 10 people. We ask that residents use the rink for a maximum of 1 hour per person to allow others to enjoy the outdoor activity. Ice rinks will be available for use from sunrise until 11 p.m. and are on a first-come first-serve basis.

Residents are asked to follow all Public Health recommendations and ask that you wear a mask and maintain a distance of 6 feet from others while using the rink. No shinny or hockey games will be allowed (no sticks and no pucks) and helmets are recommended for all participants. Town staff will be on-site to ensure that all COVID-19 protocols are in place and that residents and visitors are compliant.

We ask that residents and visitors only use the Town constructed ice rinks and to stay off large bodies of water, ponds and storm sewer ponds as water levels can quickly change underneath the ice and the unpredictable weather can pose a danger to those who use it.
