Residents are encouraged to get involved and share their ideas for Aurora’s future

The Town of Aurora is growing! In order to plan for and accommodate this growth, the Town is reviewing and updating its Official Plan from 2010. The Official Plan is a land use planning document that sets out the goals, objectives and policies to manage and direct physical change and the effects on the social, economic, built and natural environment of the Town.

“A big part of revising this plan is seeking public input, to understand how residents, community groups, and businesses envision Aurora in the future,” said Aurora Mayor Tom Mrakas. “The input we receive from the public will help us determine what parts of Town will be the focus for growth and what that growth will look like, what services and amenities are needed, how to protect our environment and plan for climate change, and ways to preserve our heritage and enhance our cultural assets. It is crucial that we hear from as many people as possible.”

The Official Plan Review is a multi-phase project that will take three years to complete. At each phase, there will be many opportunities for residents to get involved. Residents are encouraged to visit the Official Plan Review consultation available on Engage Aurora, the Town of Aurora's community engagement platform at Register online to ensure that you receive the latest updates. By registering, you can also participate in online activities and contribute feedback at key stages in the project.

Upcoming events for this phase will include the following:

  1. Self-Guided Walking Tour, October 5 through to October 27, 2020. To download the walking tour map, please visit
