Title

Remembrance Day Candlelight Vigil and Parade

Message

Lest We Forget, Aurorans proudly honour veterans and remember those we have lost

The Aurora Museum & Archives invites you to attend a candlelight vigil to honor and thank the brave men and women who serve in the Armed Forces. Each year, the Queens York Rangers 2799 Army Cadet Corps stand guard at the Aurora War Memorial in Peace Park as a sign of respect to their brothers and sisters. You are invited to stand with the cadets and reflect on Remembrance Day during the candlelight vigil.

When:   Saturday, November 9

               7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Where: Peace Park, Cenotaph

               14659 Yonge Street

As we reflect on the legacy of our war heroes, we invite you to take a stroll down Yonge Street to see the banners created by the Royal Canadian Legion. The banners are a thoughtful display to commemorate local men and women who have served our country and offer the perfect opportunity to explore our heritage in our historic downtown.

On Sunday, November 10 at 10:30 a.m., the Royal Canadian Legion will be leading a Remembrance Day parade beginning at G.W. Williams Secondary School and continuing down Yonge Street to the Aurora Cenotaph, 14659 Yonge Street, where a service will be held beginning at 11 a.m. All are welcome.

Please be aware that as a result of the parade, Yonge Street will be closed from Murray Drive/Edward Street to Allaura Boulevard/Henderson Drive between approximately 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The detour route will be Edward Street and Allaura Boulevard. There will also be a rolling closure with police escort as the parade proceeds.
