Central York Fire Services Incident Report


​Incident Type: House Fire

Date: September 26, 2019

Time of Call: 1:03 p.m.

Address / location of incident: Hillary Place, Town of Aurora

Description: Central York Fire Services (CYFS) responded to multiple reports of smoke in the area of Bathurst Street and Heathwood Heights Drive. Responding crews found smoke and flames coming from the roof area of a house on Hillary Place. Firefighters entered the house to search for occupants and were able to remove one occupant from the residence.

During continued search and rescue efforts, the roof of the home collapsed and one firefighter received minor injuries. There were no other occupants located inside the home.

Cause of incident: The CYFS Fire Prevention Division is investigating.

Casualties / Injuries: One firefighter received minor injuries.

Community Impact: There are no long-term impacts to the community at-large.

Current Status: The fire has been fully extinguished.

Resources Used: Six CYFS apparatus, one command vehicle and 29 firefighters were involved in this incident. Central York Fire Services worked in collaboration with York Regional Police, York Paramedic Services and local utilities.
