The Town of Aurora is climbing the rankings of Maclean's magazine's highly-anticipated annual Best Communities in Canada list. In the report released today, Aurora was named as the 11th best community in Canada and the 9th best community in Canada for families. In 2018, Maclean's ranked Aurora number 36 on their Best Places to Live in Canada report and number 37 on the Best Places for Families list.
"I am not at all surprised that Aurora was ranked as one of the top communities in Canada. We are truly a unique Town with an unparalleled sense of family and community spirit," says Town of Aurora Mayor Tom Mrakas. "Aurora offers small-town charm but with all the amenities of a big city. Our investment in our cultural precinct and downtown core with projects like Library Square and the Armoury are positioning us as dynamic and exciting place to be."
Maclean's gathered data on 415 towns and cities across the country and compared them in the following categories: Wealth and economy, affordability, population growth, taxes, commute, crime, weather, access to health care, amenities and culture.
Aurora's most recognized features were the amenities, low crime rate, and culture and community.
Aurora was also recognized as the 20th best place to retire in Canada and the 16th wealthiest community in Canada.
