Incident Type: Kitchen Fire

Address / location of incident: Underhill Crescent, Aurora
Description: Central York Fire Services (CYFS) were dispatched to a reported kitchen fire on Underhill Crescent. (cross streets; McClellan Way and Tamarac Trail).
Upon arrival, the Captain reported smoke showing and established contact with the occupant to enquire if there were no other persons in the home. Crews were assigned to establish a water supply and enter the building to extinguish the fire. The fire was contained to the room of origin and did not extend to any other part of the dwelling. The Incident Commander assigned fire crews on the scene to conduct a primary search and smoke ventilation in all other areas of the home. The fire damage was limited to the kitchen cupboards, the stove and exhaust hood. There is smoke damage throughout the home.
Cause of incident: Pot left unattended on the stove
Casualties / Injuries: There are no reported injuries
Community Impact: No impact to the community
Resources Used: Five Central York Fire Services apparatus were dispatched to the scene.
York Regional Police and York EMS also attended the scene.
