Incident Type: Townhouse fire

Time of Call: 5:30 a.m.

Address / location of incident: Bilbrough Street, Aurora
Description: Central York Fire Services (CYFS) responded to a residential house fire on Bilbrough Street in the area of Bayview Avenue and Borealis Avenue in the Town of Aurora. Upon arrival crews noticed smoke and fire coming from the garage. A forcible entry was made to extinguish the fire.

The homeowner was woken up by working smoke alarms and exited the home safely.

The fire caused extensive damage to the garage and neighbouring townhomes needed to be ventilated to remove some light smoke that had moved into the attached structures.

Cause of incident: The cause of the fire was deemed to be rags soaked in flammable liquid.

Casualties / Injuries: No reported injuries to residents or CFYS staff.

Community Impact: N/A

Current Status: The fire has been fully extinguished.

Resources Used: Four CYFS apparatus were involved at the incident, with additional resources from York Regional Police and York Paramedic Services.
