Environment Canada is reporting very strong southwest winds with frequent gusts of 100 to 110 km/h in the wake of a sharp arctic cold front blasting across the region. The weather conditions are expected to last into Monday.
Severe weather can cause sustained power outages and downed trees and branches.
In the event of a power outage, please do not contact the Town of Aurora. Power information is available directly from Alectra at 1-877-963-6900 or alectautilities.com.
Downed trees or branches on municipal property can be reported to the Access Aurora line at 905-727-1375. Downed trees on private property are the responsibility of the property owner.
It is recommended that residents charge cell phones and power banks as a precaution. Outdoor items should also be put away or secured.
Everyone should have a three-day emergency kit on hand that contains enough water, non-perishable foods and supplies to get through three days without power.
