Construction is scheduled to take place from Tuesday, August 7, 2018 to late September 2018. As with all road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather. York Region will provide advance notice whenever possible.
Active construction will occur on only a few hundred metres of road on any one day, with the location moving throughout the construction period.
Yonge Street will remain open to traffic throughout construction, and access to residents and businesses will be maintained. Temporary lane restrictions will be in place, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., to accommodate construction:
- Two southbound lanes and one northbound lane will be open between 7 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
- One lane in each direction will be open between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
- Two northbound lanes and one southbound lane will be open between 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.
A road preservation treatment, called microsurfacing, will be applied to Yonge Street. Microsurfacing is a common and cost-effective road maintenance treatment designed to treat roads with minor defects. The road surface can feel rougher and sound noisier after the treatment. Over time, the stones will knead together and the surface will become quieter.
Every attempt will be made to reduce the inconvenience to a minimum.
