Recreational Skating & Shinny Hockey

​​​​​​​​​​​​We offer public recreational skating and shinny hockey at various times throughout the week. Our skating offerings take place at either the Stronach Aurora Recreation Complex, Aurora Family Leisure Complex or Aurora Community Centre. Please refer to the current schedule for further details on times and location.

Guidelines and Rules

Adult Shinny Hockey

Adult Shinny Hockey players must be 18 years or older to participate. The Ontario Recreation Facilities Association and the Town of Aurora strongly recommends full equipment be worn including helmet and glove protection.

​Parent & Child Skate/Shinny

This program allows parents/guardians and children (12 years and under) to learn to skate, work on basic hockey skills and play pick-up shinny.

Hockey equipment such as sticks, pucks, pads, etc. are allowed on the ice surface. Children 6 and under must as accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The Ontario Recreation Facilities Association and the Town of Aurora recommends wearing a helmet and glove protection while on the ice surface.
