Established in 2005, June is Recreation and Parks Month (JRPM), is an annual community mobilization movement that takes place in parks, schools, recreation centres and neighbourhoods across Ontario.

June is Recreation and Par​ks Month is an exciting way to increase awareness of the value and important benefits of recreation and parks in individuals, families and communities.

For special activities, tips and ideas on things to do in Aurora to celebrate June is Recreation and Parks Month, ​​download the calendar loaded with activities for each day in June.  Hard copies can be picked up at Aurora Town Hall and Recreation Facilities.

Activities include: circuit training, family cooking classes, ballroom dance, zumba in the park, splash pads, yoga, basketball, rock climbing, leisure swim, leisure skate and so much more. How you can get involved in June is Recreation and Parks Month

Image of June is Recreation & Parks Month passportComplete the passport by participating in all four types of activities (sport, fitness, parks and trails, social activities). Passports can be picked up at the Aurora Family Leisure Complex and Stronach Aurora Recreation Complex as of June 1.  Record the activities which you have completed on your passport and submit your completed passport with your contact information to the designated community centres (AFLC / SARC / Town Hall 1st Floor) to be eligible to WIN up to $50 in credits to recreation programs and activities.  View a full list of scheduled activities.

Submit photos related to June is Recreation and Parks Month on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #AuroraJRPM18, and be eligible to have your photo published in the upcoming Aurora Community Services Program Guide.

Bring a Friend

Good things come in pairs! This June, bring a friend to a JRPM activity, and complete a ballot to be eligible to WIN up to $50 in credits to recreation programs and activities. Exceptions to this campaign include: New Beginnings Pow Wow, Senior's Information & Active Living Fair, Aurora Teen Idol and Dance in the Park. Ballots are available at the AFLC and SARC.
