The Town of Aurora in partnership with the Regional Municipality of York is pleased to provide Aurora residents with new, convenient options for re-purposing used clothing, textiles and household goods.
Residents of Aurora can now contribute cloth items and home décor of any kind including clothing, curtains, towels and bed sheets. Gently worn and reusable items are welcome, as well as any clean , dry and odourless items. This includes ripped or damaged textiles and items such as purses or eyeglasses.
Here’s how it works:
1. Place accepted items in plastic bags (clear bags preferred)
2. Please label each bag with a "T"
3. Collection takes place on the first Monday of each month
4. Leave bags outside your home by 8 a.m.
5. Place bags where they are visible from the street
Our goal is to provide residents with convenient access and keep these items out of landfill. Material collected through this program will be sorted and processed through a local facility, and re-used or re-purposed. Proceeds from this collection will be used to support diversion programs for residents of The Town of Aurora.
Aurora residents can also re-purpose unwanted clothing, textiles and households goods in the following ways:
Drop off items at local Textile Waste Collection bins 24-hours a day:
Stronach Aurora Recreation Centre, 1400 Wellington Street East
Front parking lot at the southeast corner
