2018 Citizen of the Year – Josie Kearney
Congratulations to Josie Kearney who is a student at Dr. G. W. Williams Secondary School and is a leader who wants to change the world. Josie is the Head of the Peer Mentor Group, a student-led leadership program that ensures the successful transition of the grade 9 students. Josie encouraged students to think carefully about the impact they can have on the local and global community. As well, she initiated "Change for Change" to raise funds for Toy Mountain and the Salvation Army. Josie also led a group of students to participate in a build for Habitat for Humanity. Additionally, she is also part of the Athletic and Music Councils at school and have been a key contributor to the Terry Fox Run. Josie currently volunteers with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Foundation as a result, over two hundred names have been added to the Bone Marrow Registry.
