​​​​​​​​​​Subsection 88 (9.1) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, (Act), requires that the Clerk and Returning Officer to post candidates ​financial statements from the October 27, 2014 Municipal Election online.

Documents are scanned in an unalterable PDF format and posted in the appropriate section below. Hard copies of financial statements are available for public inspection during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) at Town Hal​l.

The following candidates failed to file a Financial Statement by the legislated date. These candidates are therefore in default. In this case, each candidate is ineligible to be elected or appointed to any office to which the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 applies until after the next regular election has taken place.

Compliance Audit Committee

If an eligible elector in the Town of Aurora believes under reasonable grounds that a candidate for municipal office has contravened the Municipal Elections Act, with respect to municipal campaign finances, they may apply to have an audit of the candidate's campaign finances.

Important Notes:

  1. Candidates are wholly responsible for ensuring their financial statements are completed accurately and completely in accordance with the Act. The financial statements submitted by candidates will be posted as submitted by the candidate. They will not be verified or amended in any way by Town of Aurora staff except to redact portions of a financial statement indicating contributors $100 or less.
  2. In situations where a candidate files multiple financial statements (e.g. those who extend their campaigns and file a supplementary financial statement pursuant to the Act), all statements will be shown.
  3. In the case of candidates who have not filed by the legislated dates, the most recent filed financial statement, if any, will appear on this web page. However, a Notice of Default provided for under Subsection 80 (3) of the Act will appear in the heading "Notices of Default".​
