The Building division is responsible for reviewing Building Permit Applications, enforcement of The Building Code Act and the Ontario Building Code Regulations to ensure standards are achieved for all construction.

This division is also responsible for ensuring compliance with the zoning bylaw and all other applicable laws, as well as, providing comments on all development applications.

The Building Division is comprised of two sections:

Zoning & Building Administration

The Zoning & Building Administration section is responsible for the administration and review of building permit applications to ensure compliance with the zoning bylaw and all other applicable laws. This section is also responsible for providing comments on all development applications, as well as, the interpretation of the zoning bylaw and provides services such as preliminary zoning review, responding to compliance letters requests and issuing permitted use letters.

Building Code Review & Inspections

The Building Code Review & Inspections section is responsible for the review of all application plans and documents; staff consists of building inspectors and examiners who perform various on-site inspections to verify compliance with the Ontario Building Code and other related standards and bylaws.

These reviews and approvals are meant to ensure that the minimum construction standards established by the Ontario Building Code have been met to protect the health, safety and welfare of both inhabitants and users of buildings.
