Notice of fire hydrant maintenance to residents south of Wellington St between Edward St and Yonge Street

Town of Aurora residents living in the old part of Town south of Wellington Street between Edward Street and Yonge Street should be aware that Canadian Hydrant Technologies will be operating and inspecting fire hydrants starting today December 4, 2017 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

This is part of our annual routine hydrant maintenance program. When a fire hydrant is opened, there is a large volume of water used which can stir up iron in the watermain. This may cause water to be brown in colour.

Running your tap for a few minutes can clear the brown colour. There are no health risks associated with this discolouration.
Please check your drinking, cooking, and laundry water before use. Should you experience air and/or discoloured water in your lines, please remove faucet screens and slowly open the cold water taps, at the lowest level of your property and let the water run for several minutes to clear the lines.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation. If you have any concerns, please contact Access Aurora at 905-727-1375.
