Public road safety is a very important concern within the community of Aurora. While the York Regional Police Department does its best to keep our roads safe, each of us, as citizens, can assist in this vital effort through the ROAD WATCH™ program. The purpose of the program is to help improve driver behaviour which will make our streets safer, through “passive” enforcement and through an education program.

ROAD WATCH™ provides all citizens with the opportunity to record careless and unsafe driving practices, such as speeding, tailgating, failure to stop at stop signs, etc., and then report these actions to the police department using a form that has been specifically prepared for the reporting process. The police department will then follow up on the complaint, and depending on how many complaints are received about an automobile and/or driver, actions ranging from a cautionary letter to charges being laid, can follow. Forms can be completed online at the York Regional Police ROAD WATCH™ website. The Town of Aurora feels that the ROAD WATCH™ program is an extremely worthwhile effort to make our roads safer for all users.
